Mechanical Engineer & Maker — Oisterwijk
Engineer by training, maker by passion. I design, build and visualize — from precision CAD models to CNC-milled parts, 3D-printed prototypes and custom electronics.
What I do
I design all kinds of cool, weird and complex creations — primarily in CAD. Beyond mechanical work I build electronics using Arduino and ESP32, programming and integrating them into innovative projects. My current favourite CAD tool is FreeCAD — parametric, with CAM and FEM built in.
One of the most exciting parts of 3D design is seeing the final product. I create beautiful renders in Blender, including kinematic and fluid simulations and animations. I even built a FreeCAD icon pack in Blender — generated with a single script. I've also done renders for bathrooms, workshops and kitchens.
Beyond the screen I'm very hands-on. I own a resin printer, FDM printer and CNC machine — almost always building my own designs. I also have an electronics workstation for soldering and custom builds. Notable projects: a lightsaber, camera rail and arcade cabinet. Online I'm known as MisterMaker.
Software
Over the course of my career I've worked with a wide range of CAD platforms — from parametric modelling to CAM, FEM and motion analysis. My go-to today is FreeCAD for its open-source flexibility and built-in CAM capabilities.
For organic designs and high-quality renders I use Blender 3D, which I've pushed well beyond typical engineering use — including scripted batch rendering and 2D icon generation.
